Tickets are now on sale for Hope Clubhouse of Southwest Florida’s Annual Mental Health Luncheon taking place on Monday, Oct. 30 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre located at 1380 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers. Executive Director for Hope Clubhouse of Southwest Florida James Wineinger will unveil the organization’s new “Faces of Hope” campaign at the luncheon. The featured keynote speaker will be local attorney Sawyer Smith, who will share his journey of mental health.
One in five people in the United States of all ages, ethnicity and gender experiences a mental illness in a given year. It could be your significant other, your child, a friend, or a co-worker. The “Faces of Hope” campaign will introduce you to the many faces of mental illness, as well as the individual stories of hope and happiness that come from having the support of a local resource, Hope Clubhouse. The campaign will feature people right here in Southwest Florida who manage ongoing mental health challenges daily.
Keynote speaker Sawyer Smith is an accomplished businessman and attorney dedicated to protecting and improving Lee County’s quality of life and business climate. He has earned the respect and praise of many in the legal profession for his level of integrity and commitment to the protection of Constitutional rights. Smith, who has dealt with mental illness most of his life, will bring a unique perspective to the luncheon as he shares his personal story and insight.
Christin Collins, Mental Health Luncheon chair, said, “Launching ‘Faces of Hope’ and bringing Sawyer to the stage to talk about his journey will bring great awareness to the issues of mental health and the many people in our community that deal with these issues everyday. We are certain that this luncheon will bring the conversation to the forefront.”
In addition to Collins, Kathryne “Kappy” King has been named honorary chair of the Annual Mental Health Luncheon. She and husband John King received the inaugural Hands of Hope Award earlier this year in recognition of the couple’s generous contributions to Hope Clubhouse’s community of support for adults living with mental illness in Southwest Florida.
